North Korea has been beating the war drums with gusto lately, but a few photos of Kim the younger have exposed what appears to be a frail, dying man. According to South Korean reports and intelligence from China, he has pancreatic cancer, which is a very deadly disease, and he is not expected to live long. In the photos, a drooping right side of the face suggests a recent stroke.
As usual in North Korea, it is not clear what this means, but the current belligerence on the part of the North Korean regime may simply be so much bluster covering for the frailty of its leadership. We can only hope…

I wonder what kind of pancreatic cancer he has. Most come with an expected survival time of weeks or months rather than years, but then there’s Steve Jobs.
Anyway, North Korea survived the death of his father — it’ll probably survive his death, too, though I hope this is the first step toward its dissolution and reunification.
